New Coversheet Design

If you've been ordering documents from us for a long time you may have come to know - and recognize at a glance - our coversheet. Now, you'll have to start re-training your eyes to look for something new:

Samplenewcoversheet_sml_2

Our new coversheet is designed to allow more information about the article you've ordered to be clearly displayed as well as allow us to put in the information we need about the services you've requested to ensure we fill your order properly. We hope you find it easier to read to quickly locate the information you need about that order.

Take Our Survey - Tell Us What You Think

Tell us what you really think!

Whether you're an existing customer of Information Express or not we want to learn more about what you need to make your job easier and make the services you provide through our company (or companies like us) better. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey linked below. At the end, you'll be offered a free article as thanks for your time.

Our SLA Giveaway is Hot

In addition to those pens (we know you love them) and some new paperclips (better than that sounds), we're holding a raffle at SLA this year. It's a bit of an experiment but we hope you'll take to it in the spirit that we're offering it: we'll be asking for business cards and, for ten winners, purchasing carbon offsets for their roundtrip travel to SLA.

Terrapass_logoTerraPass is a local company that uses the purchase of carbon offsets for your car, your air travel and your home to invest in clean energy projects. We'll be purchasing the winners' offsets through them. We don't know if carbon offsets are the way to go to solve any of the global warming problems but we think it can't hurt to try and hope you'll enter to win to become part of the solution as well.

We'll also be offsetting our own travel - for those going from California each flight produces 867lbs of CO2. Ben's flight from New York produces 1,439 lbs. As for me... I'll do my part by ... um... sitting here with the air conditioner off?

Paper - It's So Over.

A document delivery company going paperless? Well, we can try, can't we?

Since we started delivering articles via email and introduced some other processes in-house we're seeing less and less need for paper. Paper is so over.

Okay, not entirely - we still need it for many of the things we do. But we're going to be encouraging people who stop by our booth at SLA to not pick up any packages of our marketing material. Yes, really - don't bother doing that.

Instead, leave us your business card and we're email it all to you after the show. We still want to show you our products, so stay for a demo, but we don't want to load you down with lots of paper you'll probably get sick of carrying around before you read it anyway. Take a pen, take a paperclip (they're snazzy) but leave the paper. We'll get in touch with that information shortly after the show.

We still reserve the right to make paper airplanes though - they've been part of our logo since the beginning. Look for our new posters and postcards we'll be handing out (more on that in another post) to pick up on that image.

If you're not going to SLA - or can't wait to read all about us - the information you need is linked right over there on the right sidebar under "Documents and Materials". If you click on the "All Files" link you'll be able to download a .zip file of all our materials.

We've Missed You Too!

We haven't actually gone anywhere but we've been so busy filling your orders and sending out your tables of contents that I haven't done much updating here. So, what've you been up to?

Some updates are coming this week as we gear up for SLA 2007 in Denver. If you're going, you'll get to meet Neema, the head of our Service Quality department who's making his first trip to SLA. We're taking over the phones for him while he's away so he can meet you and hear firsthand what a great job he's doing (right?!) and what we can do to make IE work better for you in the future.

You'll also see Robyn, from our Rush department, and Ben who many of you already know, as well as our president Bruce. They'll all be at booth #106 (handy map included below) so please stop by and say 'hi!'.

Better identification for Rush orders in your inbox

A very quick new feature release for what's turning into a rainy Friday afternoon. If you order a Rush document through our online system, and the filled article is emailed to you, the subject line of the email containing that document will start with "Rush:". That should help you easily identify these more urgent orders in your Inbox.

This only applies to orders placed through IEOnline - emailed or faxed orders will not have this added automatically. If you're interested in learning how to order Rush documents through IEOnline please give us a call!

Office Closed for Thanksgiving

PumpkinpieThe Information Express offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday so that, like many Americans, we can stuff our faces with turkey and pie. Hope your holidays are equally gut-busting and we'll see you back again on Monday. Drive safely!

New Team Member: Alex

BabyalexWe like to be all proud of ourselves when we churn out some new feature, but some of us have more reason to be proud than others with what they're producing. The whole office has been sneaking daily webcam viewings of this little guy and thought it time we introduced him to you. Please welcome Alex Antelman, newborn son of our company president Bruce and his wife, Maria. Alex is cute and smart and is starting to accumulate internet URLs quickly with an appearance on the NY Observer site today.

New Custom Text Field for IE Online

For those of you who administer an IE Online interface you are already aware of the number of custom fields we offer for various message texts. We've just added one more. Now, you can customize the subject line of the email that goes out to a new user when they've first signed up for an account.

The default text says "Confirmation of your new ALERT account" but you can now submit a request to have that changed to other text of your choosing. The field is limited so you can't use more than 40 characters or use any HTML.

If you want to change the subject line, please submit your new text to Service Quality (service@ieonline.com) and we'll make the update from there.

(And an early happy Halloween as well!)
